interviews Jim Beck, Founder of Baytech Companies, LLC
1) Please introduce yourself and where you work.
My name is Jim Beck, Founder and Managing Partner at Baytech Companies, LLC.2) How do you think SEO has changed over the last 10 years?
From a vendor side, SEO has changed in last decade in that there are now more of everything, so providing a solution that allows a single vendor solution as we have, to handle multiple services, is now a sound move. Before, it seemed like everyone was doing 1 or 2 things, and now as we have seen, you MUST have more tools available in order to make the search engines happy with your site and to rank it.
We have created a method that allows for the business owner to become the expert through strong messaging and branding. However, if you do not feed the engines with unique, quality and congruent information, you will not achieve the results you are looking for. That is WAY different than buying linkbacks and positioning meta tags throughout the web pages. These are still important, but content has now overtaken in terms of ranking importance.
From the business owner side, there are a lot of moving parts and not paying enough attention to SEO can be detrimental to your growth. SEO really is all about WHO is finding your website and WHY – organically. The rest are technical details, so knowing at least the basics will allow you to either begin to learn on your own, or learn how to hire a good company who will do what they say, help your website be found on relevant terms, and become an asset to your organization.

I wrote my first computer program in Basic when I was 11 years old, so I started young. I founded Baytech in 2008 by building websites and landing pages and sending emails for our customers. Because of the Iphone2 success released in the fall of ‘08, we also became a mobile marketing company focused on helping our customers engage the mobile consumer.
We grew even through one of the worst economies ever, and have continued to grow and learn every day. If you stop reading or learning or watching about this industry, then you fall behind. The SEO marketplace has grown and changed over the years, and when I started to help companies get their websites ranked, the content was not quite as important as it is now. So, we started sending direct traffic through email, then added sms, and the SEO part was just a natural fit for us. As we continued to watch Google change, we followed. It’s that simple. They are the kings of search with something like 90% of all searches performed on the internet, so we watch what they ask, make adjustments and we see a tremendous response for our customers as we do.
4) What are the services you provide to your clients?
We are a digital marketing agency that focuses on providing online visibility programs, lead generation and custom website solutions for the SMB Marketplace. We offer managed SEM/PPC, SEO, Web, Mobile, Social, email, and text messaging as opportunities for engagement. The invent of digital content marketing and how they relate to a websites’ ranking is also a very important thing to understand. By focusing on engaging the mobile consumer, we have helped produce over 45 million impressions for our customers and have well over 5000 keywords on page 1 of search engines and this is growing every day.
5) What strategy according to you will prevail in 2017 for SEO?
Become the expert. Becoming the expert separates you from your competitors. If you are an HVAC company – then discuss your training and
more importantly your installation snafu’s that occur, and how you fixed them. If you are a restaurant, offer new, fresh dishes at a good price point. But have a small “Soft Opening” for that dish the day before it is released, to get testimonials and feedback which helps to build brand and/or product loyalty. The opportunities are endless, it just takes a little thinking and creativity and you can have a huge business, in whatever business you choose. Then, once all this happens, you build content around what you did and are doing and the search engines will lap it up!
6) What would your advice be to people who are looking to take up digital marketing as a career choice?
Start somewhere. On sales and marketing side, the more technical you can get, the better you will do. If you are the technical side, then learn what you
are good at, and get really good at it. It helps you specialize and differentiate, and that is when you become an asset that organizations’ management, and that is a prime place to be. If you have patience, and the want, then there has never been a better time for starting your own agency because this little internet thing and that small mobile thing (joking) – are not going away anytime soon. The future is endless!Thank you for allowing me to provide these answers to your questions and I hope they help you and your readers!Best Regards
